The former Azzurri head was left to handle a team that all but fell apart under the weight of an unprecedented financial crisis, but he thinks this year's struggle made him stronger.

“With the experience I gathered I can handle any team,” he said in a Press conference.

“Between a top team and a mid-table team there wouldn't be much to choose from, I'd just like to have certain types of players. I want footballers who show professionalism in training.

“I'd rather have a player who is a dedicated professional, but lacks something from a technical point of view than the other way round.

“As for our club, I don't think there is any bad news. Extricating ourselves from this situation isn't easy, but we'll be meeting the bankruptcy administrators soon.

“Along with [Parma advisor Demetrio] Albertini, they'll be submitting their proposals. We'll see what happens."

The 51-year-old also discussed today’s game against Empoli.

“They are one of the best teams of the season, facing them won't be easy for us.

“I hope we'll be in the right condition to play against them. In Genoa we came short from a physical point of view.”
