Giuseppe Iachini said Palermo's objective as the season closes is to “go after a record,” whilst playing down transfer gossip.

The Rosanero enjoy a safe mid-table position in the standings, but their Coach says he's aiming to fly higher than that.

“Our objective is to gather as many points as possible,” he said in his Press conference ahead of this afternoon’s game with Genoa.

“Last year, once we were mathematically certain we could not be relegated, we went after our record. Now we're looking to make 50 points.

“We want to reach the end thinking of one game at a time. We hope to continue our development, and we aim to analyse the highest number of players possible while simultaneously buying time.

“There are things we still need to verify. In these closing days of the season we'll be given important clues for the present as well as for the future.

“I think it's fundamental for a team as solid and driven as ours to always play for a win.

“We've been very, very unlucky with our shots,” he said in reference to the fact that Palermo have hit the woodwork 17 times this season.

“But [Paulo] Dybala and [Franco] Vazquez are always supported by their teammates, so something must be working.”

The 50-year-old was also asked about the possibility that he may leave the team at the end of the season.

“I have a good relationship with [President Maurizio] Zamparini. We should talk about my future later, not now. The President and I have some common goals, I can confirm that.”
