Genoa President Enrico Preziosi believes that his club still have a chance of qualifying for Europe next season by catching Fiorentina.

“If I had to point to a team in front of us that we could catch for a Europa League spot, at the moment I’d say Fiorentina,” Preziosi told Gianluca Di Marzio.
“They’ve shown a bit of fatigue and worked hard on many fronts, so it could be that they’ve lost something. Everything depends on us – how much we want to win and to show that on the pitch.”
The Rossoblu remain six points behind city rivals Sampdoria, but that fact is not weighing on the mind of the President too much.
“Obviously the desire will always be to do better than our local rivals, but if that isn’t possible we will still be satisfied with our season,” he said.
“At the moment we’re just thinking about winning our match on Sunday, which will be very important for us.”
Preziosi also praised the form of Diego Perotti and Iago Falque and underlined his desire that they remain with the Marassi outfit.
“We have invested very little and found great value. We want to keep these players here, that’s the most important thing, and then we can see how the market goes.”
However, he refused to be drawn into any suggestions that the club could separate from Coach Gian Piero Gasperini in the near future.
“Gasperini still has seven matches left to play and another year as our Coach – there’s no urgency. I’ve already confirmed that there’s a contract for next year and now I must focus on our priorities.”
