Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini thinks that his club can still offer Inter target Yaya Toure a challenge.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with the Nerazzurri and a reunion with former boss Roberto Mancini, and spoke of wanting a 'challenge' this week, but City’s Chilean manager interpreted the comments differently.

“Maybe a new challenge is City also,” he said in his Press conference ahead of the Blues’ Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday.

“There are lot of different places you can have it. City also is a challenge and I am sure Yaya is very happy here.

“We have a project here. Every year we are trying to improve. Maybe you cannot win titles every year but I think the project of the club is to improve the squad and to improve as a club, so there are a lot of important things and I think it is an important challenge.”

Pellegrini also responded to questions about Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk’s remarks that the Ivory Coast international is being blamed for City’s poor season.

“You already asked the same question in the last press conference. I say the same answer. I don’t talk about Yaya’s agent. Everyone can say what he wants.”
