“The thing that made the biggest difference against Sassuolo was our efficiency. We scored three goals, despite getting fewer shots on goal than usual,” noted the Coach in a Press conference.

Seydou Keita pulled out during the warm-up in that game and remains in doubt for tomorrow with a knee problem.

Francesco Totti was dropped and it has been reported the captain was not happy at being sidelined, especially as Roma appear to play better without him.

“You read his comments and he is absolutely right that we need to stay concentrated. We are gambling with the Champions League places here. I will evaluate our strengths and those of Genoa before deciding which line-up to use.”

Genoa are fresh from hammering Milan 3-1 at San Siro, whereas Roma have won only twice on home turf since November.

“We are playing against a side that is fighting for the Europa League. They have one or two big players missing and it’s a shame we won’t get to see [Nicolas Andre] Burdisso again, as I appreciated him and would’ve liked to say hello.

“We have played better away from home, but those two victories were against strong teams. The Stadio Olimpico must go back to being a fortress.

“If our fans flock in numbers tomorrow then they will be an added strength for the team.”

Seydou Doumbia finally broke his duck against Sassuolo, albeit in a game he wasn’t originally meant to start.

“On a psychological level this goal will give him a lot more confidence,” continued Garcia. “He will be able to play with less pressure. He was jeered in his first start for Roma, which was not easy for him.

“His goal was a real centre-forward’s effort, a powerful header. Now he needs to play to be judged fairly, but we got him to score goals.

“It’s true our strikers have to do more in terms of goals and assists, but when we don’t have a ‘hitman’ in the team it is better to have five alternatives with different characteristics. If you bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma, we’ll take him!”
