Roma Coach Rudi Garcia has defended captain Francesco Totti – ‘leave him alone’.

The forward is a club legend, but it has been suggested in some quarters that the Giallorossi’s downturn in form can be partly attributed to the 38-year-old still being a regular.

“Leave ‘il Capitano’ alone,” Garcia implored journalists in his Press conference ahead of the Milan game.

“He’s a great champion, and we talk about him every week.

“He could start the game, or come off the bench, all that counts is winning in Milan and the players being at 100 per cent mentally and physically.

“But leave ‘il Capitano’ alone.”

The former Lille Coach also discussed the future of Radja Nainggolan, whose co-ownership must be resolved with Cagliari at the end of the season.

“Every player is important, everyone equally. This is another point where we have to talk about concentration.

“We can’t afford to be distracted for a second to think about his personal situation. Everyone must be focused on the collective and think about the next game.

“Everyone will make their own arrangements with the club, but now is not the time to speak about individuals, it’s the time to make a difference on the pitch and win for Roma.”
