Lazio director Igli Tare reveals Biancocleste President Claudio Lotito was furious after his club’s controversial 2-1 defeat to Inter on Sunday.

The Aquile were left with nine men after referee Davide Massa sent off Mauricio and Federico Marchetti as well as allowing Inter’s first goal with two players in offside positions.

Tare shed light on the reaction of the President but rejected any suggestion that Lotito had accosted Massa in any way after the game.

Tare shed light on the reaction of the President but rejected any suggestion that Lotito had accosted Massa in any way after the game.

“Lotito was furious, but under no circumstances in which we were present did he make a comment about the referee Massa,” Tare told Gr Parlamento.

“However, the next day there is still much regret given the importance of the match.

“Looking at the other results, this was a unique opportunity because winning would’ve taken us within touching distance of our goal which is the Champions League.

“The episodes of bad refereeing are very obvious, even when analysed afterwards.

“Everyone makes mistakes, but I'd like to hear a referee who can admit they’ve made a mistake.”
