Fabio Liverani has terminated his contract with Leyton Orient after failing to stop their relegation to League Two.

The former Genoa Coach was their fourth tactician of the season, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal in December.

However, he was unable to prevent the League One side slipping down a level.

“We announce today that Fabio Liverani will be leaving his role as manager of the club by mutual consent.

“His assistants, Maurizio Cantarelli and Marcello Donatelli, will also be leaving the Club.

“The Club will now focus on rebuilding for next season, in the hope that we can make a swift return to League One.”

Leyton Orient are owned by Italian energy magnate Francesco Becchetti and he had appointed Mauro Milanese as manager before Liverani’s arrival.

Liverani was known as a player at Lazio and Palermo, but his Serie A coaching career was just seven games at Genoa in 2013.
