“Obviously I hope to have an enjoyable birthday with a great win.”

Messages are pouring in from the Inter world, including an open letter from his successor Erick Thohir.

“Today is a special day for you, as it's your birthday. It's also a special day for Inter, the team to whom you've given so much throughout your life and in the 18 years here.

“You achieved historic success at the helm of our glorious club. The trophy room at Inter headquarters is wonderful and full of silverware that tells the story of it.

“A lifetime of success on and off the pitch. Just like the Treble in 2010 which is etched in the hearts and minds of Inter fans everywhere.

“Today is a special day, as I was saying. It is for you, for Inter and for us. And it is for all the Nerazzurri supporters throughout the world.
“Happy birthday on behalf of everyone at Inter.
“Erick Thohir”
