Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar announced he “will certainly sign a new contract” before the summer.

The forward’s current deal is set to expire in June 2016, so failure to secure a renewal would see him sold over the next few months.

“Before going on vacation we will certainly sign a new contract,” Babacar told FirenzeViola at a public event.

“We can say that we’re at the right place and are close to giving this good news.”

The 22-year-old Senegalese talent scored nine goals in 28 competitive games for Fiorentina this season, but his campaign was cut short by injury.

“It could’ve gone better, but unfortunately this is football. We must all focus on giving our best next season.

“Against Sevilla I was sweating with nerves in the stands, even more than my teammates were!”
