An official confirmation of his appointment will arrive either on Thursday or Friday at the latest.

This evening he reportedly agreed personal terms with CEO Adriano Galliani, then drove into Berlusconi’s Arcore villa in the same car as the director.
When the director of communications, the official club photographer, Milan Channel crew and Silvio’s son Piersilvio Berlusconi also arrived at Arcore, reporters thought an announcement was imminent.
However, when the dinner finished, reporters outside were told by the PR chief that this was a chance for Berlusconi to ‘get to know’ Mihajlovic before making a final decision.
They are down to details and are believed to have already discussed transfer strategy and the new staff.
Pippo Inzaghi has a contract until June 2016, but the club made it perfectly clear it is looking for a replacement.
One of the reasons behind the delay is to terminate the deal with Inzaghi and if done by mutual consent will allow Milan to save on wages.
Carlo Ancelotti finally turned down the offer yesterday, so Milan turned towards Mihajlovic instead.
This would be a return of sorts to San Siro, as Mihajlovic spent two years playing for Inter, then acted as assistant manager to Roberto Mancini from 2006 to 2008.
He had previously been asked if he’d take on the Milan job and replied: “I’d rather starve to death. I’m an Interista.”
His senior coaching positions were at Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina and the Serbia national team before going to Sampdoria in November 2013.
It would certainly make the Milan Derby intriguing next season, as Mihajlovic will be up against his mentor Mancini.
