Inter are “evaluating” Stevan Jovetic, confirmed director Piero Ausilio, but has little hope for Medhi Benatia.

The Nerazzurri have long been linked with a summer swoop for the Montenegro international, who joined Manchester City from Fiorentina for €26m in 2013.

“There are many players that we are evaluating at this moment,” Ausilio told reporters at the Football Leaders event in Amalfi.

“Jovetic is one of them and I don’t know whether Manchester City put him on the market or not.

“We need to bring in a few players. It’s not a question of quantity, but of quality. They must be talented, useful and functional to the project.”

Jovetic has scored only five goals this season in 26 competitive games for City.

Ausilio was also asked about reports Inter are tracking Malaga’s Sergi Darder and Bayern Munich centre-back Benatia.

“Darder is a young player we like and we kept an eye on him, as we have done many others.

“Benatia is at a club that I doubt has any intention of letting him go. I think this is more a story in the papers than anywhere else.”
