Basel Coach Paulo Sousa has agreed a deal to replace Vincenzo Montella at Fiorentina, according to reports.

The Portuguese tactician had initially been reluctant to make the move to the Viola, with reports that the Tuscan side had given up to focus on Roberto Donadoni.

However, Sky is reporting tonight that the former Juventus midfielder has reached a deal with Fiorentina, and will be confirmed this week.

The news outlet believes the appointment is a done deal, with only the formalities still to be settled.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato also believes a deal is virtually certain, but reports a disagreement over salary.

The website claims Fiorentina are offering €1m per season, but Sousa currently earns €1.4m. This is not thought to be a potential dealbreaker, however, with the difference likely to be made up by performance-related bonuses.

Montella was dismissed from his position this week, after refusing to definitively commit his future to the Viola.
