Italy Under-21 Coach Gigi Di Biagio said the 4-3-3 system “is giving positive results” after a 7-0 win over the Inter Primavera side.

The Azzurrini had their final practice run ahead of the opening European Championship match with Sweden.

“The attitude was right, but we are not yet at peak fitness,” warned Di Biagio after the game at Inter’s Appiano Gentile ground.

“The starting line-up here could well be the one that starts against Sweden, but I have some important options at my disposal. They are all quality players.

“I am concentrating on the 4-3-3 because it is giving positive results. The strength of the Under-21 side is the team ethic, as with that we can beat anybody.

“Some still need to find full fitness, as they haven’t played regularly of late. Cristian Biraghi has recovered, but we didn’t want to risk him today.”

Palermo’s Andrea Belotti opened the scoring, followed by a Christian Battocchio curler.

After the break the floodgates really opened. Marcello Trotta broke through, then Daniele Baselli, Domenico Berardi, Marco Benassi and a Federico Barba back-heel flick.

Sassuolo forward Berardi was unlucky, rattling the woodwork twice.
