Now UEFA have requested more information on Samp and will decide on June 17 whether a one-point penalty in 2012 for having a player involved in the match-fixing scandal is enough to rule them out.
The player, Stefano Guberti, rarely featured for the Blucerchiati and Sampdoria accepted a one-point plea bargain.
“How worried am I? Zero,” President Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia. “I always said that I believe in justice, not just the sporting kind.
“There are gentlemen and people of real quality who are going to decide, so why should I be worried? Besides, Torino got into Europe, so why shouldn’t we?
“Maybe someone in Milan is annoyed at us being ahead of them…”
The big benefit for Sampdoria is the Torino case, as they were allowed into the Europa League last season despite being in an identical situation.
The only difference is that the Italian authorities forgot to register the point penalty for match-fixing.
