Italy midfielder Stefano Sturaro has received a three-match ban in the European Under-21 Championships.

The Juventus man apologised publicly and said he “does not deserve to wear the Azzurri jersey” after his red card in the 2-1 defeat to Sweden on Thursday.

He reacted angrily to a foul and UEFA have now confirmed a three-game suspension.

This means he’ll miss the other group matches against Portugal and England, plus an eventual semi-final if Italy get there.
