“It is an honour for me and for Lazio to receive an award for our Financial Fair Play,” said Lotito at the presentation.

“This recognition is a testament to the smart running of the club that we managed to put in place during these years.

“I inherited Lazio in disastrous financial conditions, on the edge of bankruptcy with €84m annual revenue, losses of €86.5m and debts to the tune of €550m.

“Today SS Lazio are one of the most solid teams out there on an economic level. We started a process of renewal that allowed us to balance the books.

“Professionalism, rigour, respect for the rules, scruples, dedication and passion were the ingredients that allowed us to fly as high as our eagle Olympia.

“Our profit of €7.1m along with a strengthening of the squad are figures that speak for themselves. We will continue our virtuous path, supported by the love for football and the passion of our supporters, believing we’ll do even better until we reach even more ambitious targets.”
