Former Inter President Massimo Moratti says the signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia ‘resembles the arrival of Ronaldo’.
The midfielder has signed from Monaco in a deal thought to be worth around €35m, plus bonuses, and the former patron compares the deal to the arrival of Ronaldo from Barcelona in 1997.
“Congratulations to [current President Erick] Thohir,” said Moratti, speaking to Corriere dello Sport.
“Kondogbia is an important player, he’s young and can be a benchmark for the future. The enthusiasm around him is positive for the whole club.
“It resembles the arrival of Ronaldo, we knew that we’d signed a champion.
“Hopefully they can do great things. The President deserves it because of the sweat and effort he put in. He asked me what I thought of the signing, and I told him it was good.
“He keeps me up to date.”
Ronaldo scored 59 goals in 99 games for the Nerazzurri, but won only a solitary UEFA Cup.
