Monaco are still waiting for a response from Roma striker Mattia Destro, as he hopes to join Fiorentina instead.

The centre-forward has returned from a disappointing six-month loan spell at Milan, as they did not active the clause to buy for €18m.

Now Monaco are determined to sign the 24-year-old, as he was specifically requested by Coach Leonardo Jardim.

The offer on the table so far is thought to be €12m plus performance-related bonuses.

Roma have given Monaco permission to speak to Destro, but the player is holding out in case Fiorentina step forward.

He already rejected a move abroad to Wolfsburg last year and is reticent to leave Italy.

However, the Viola seem intent only on proposing a one-season loan with option to buy, which would not satisfy Roma or Destro.
