Former Inter misfit Dani Osvaldo has been released by Southampton, after completing a loan at Boca Juniors.

The striker joined the Nerazzurri on loan last summer, but left in January after falling out with Mauro Icardi and Coach Roberto Mancini.

Osvaldo then spent six months on loan at Boca Juniors, while still being owned by the Saints.

“Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has terminated the contract of striker Dani Osvaldo,” a statement on the club’s official website began.

“Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has terminated the contract of striker Dani Osvaldo,” a statement on the club’s official website began.

“The Italian international, who has not played for the club since January 2014, yesterday completed a loan spell with Argentinian club Boca Juniors.”

It’s not clear whether the former Juventus and Roma man will return to Boca, with the club having just brought in Carlos Tevez, or seek a return to Serie A.
