Sampdoria have announced the double signing of former players Mattia Cassani and Christian Puggioni. 

The Blucerchiati’s preparations for next season continue, with the experienced duo arriving only a day after Edgar Barreto’s capture was announced.

Cassani was part of the ill-fated Parma side that went bankrupt during the 2014-15 season, and the 31-year-old has signed a two-year deal at the Marassi.

“Together again, 12 years later,” read a statement on Sampdoria.it.

“After a long time, the paths of Mattia Cassani and Sampdoria officially cross once again.

“The club of President Massimo Ferrero has put the defender at the disposal of Coach Walter Zenga.”

Puggioni returns to the club where he began his career, arriving after four seasons with Chievo.

“Now Christian Puggioni can rejoice in again becoming a Sampdoria player, the team he has always supported,” said the announcement on the club’s official website.
