The Brazilian spoke to reporters after the first friendly of the summer, a 4-3 victory over Stuttgart Kickers.

“It’s good to start with a win, because even if it was a friendly, we know that this year we can’t afford to give anyone a way in,” said the midfielder.

“I expect great things this year, to do well and give a big contribution to the team.”

The Nerazzurri have invested heavily so far with the likes of Geoffrey Kondogbia, Joao Miranda, Jeison Murillo and Martin Montoya coming in.

“Can we challenge for the Scudetto? Yes we can, as the team is growing. Last term we already laid some solid foundations, so we can fight for the top spots.”

With so many new faces, Inter have to sell some of the old guard, but Hernanes assures he’s staying put.

“I have never been contacted by anyone. It’s all rumours, as I want to help the team. Kondogbia will bring more aggression and quality to the midfield.”
