CSKA Moscow confirm they are “in negotiations” with Roma as Seydou Doumbia “wants to come back” after just six months.

The 27-year-old Ivorian only made the transfer on January 31 for €14.4m, but struggled to settle in and scored just two goals in 14 games.

“It is necessary to wait for the forward to sign the paperwork, but we are in negotiations,” CSKA Moscow assistant manager Viktor Onopko told NTV.

“In any case, it’s a bit early to say he is a CSKA player again, but we can say there is foundation to the rumours of a possible return.

“Doumbia wants to come back, but he has a long contract with Roma.”

The Giallorossi are eager to get the financial cost of this transfer off their books, so they can re-invest in Manchester City hitman Edin Dzeko.
