Giuseppe Rossi admits “these months have been very tough, but finally” he made his Fiorentina comeback today.

The 28-year-old Italy international came on for the last 25 minutes of a 2-0 friendly win over Carpi, providing an assist for Borja Valero’s goal.

“Finally I am back on the pitch,” Pepito told Viola Channel after more than a year out of action.

“Finally I am back on the pitch,” Pepito told Viola Channel after more than a year out of action.

“It wasn’t easy today against a Serie A side like Carpi, but I was so happy. We did well today.

“These months have been very tough, but finally today I got the right opportunity to step back on to the field.

“Now I’m working to find my best form as soon as possible. The fans are great, as are my teammates, and I thank everyone for their support.”

Fiorentina are now preparing to head off for a summer tour of the United States, where Rossi was born and raised.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be a tour guide for my teammates!”
