The Croatian federation has also received a fine of €100,000 for the incident.

The punishment could have been worse, as UEFA had the option to expel Robert Kovac’s side from the tournament.

The ruling means the Azzurri will now be one point behind Croatia, who will still top the group on 13 points, while Italy have 12.
