English Premier League side Leicester City have officially completed the signing of Atalanta’s Yohan Benalouane.

The defender admitted yesterday that he was reluctantly accepting a transfer, and now the Foxes have announced a deal is done.

“Defender Yohan Benalouane has completed a move to Leicester City on a four-year deal subject to international clearance and Premier League and FA approval,” the club announced on its official website.

“The 28-year-old centre back arrives from Serie A side Atalanta for an undisclosed fee and will add some healthy competition to Claudio Ranieri’s defensive line ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League opener against Sunderland.

“He will wear the no.29 shirt.

“Last term Benalouane’s performances at the heart of Atalanta’s defence provided a solid foundation for a campaign that saw the Italian side amass 37 point total en route to securing Serie A survival in impressive fashion.”

Benalouane has claimed the deal is worth €8m [£5.6m], but the English side have not revealed how much they are paying.
