Milan agreed personal terms with Alessio Romagnoli, but Roma are eager to keep hold of the centre-back.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani met with Romagnoli’s representative Sergio Berti in Forte dei Marmi this morning.
They discussed personal terms and agreed a basic deal for his contract.
It has been known for some time that the 20-year-old is open to this transfer, but so far Roma have turned down the €25m offer.
Milan are expected to make another push in negotiations with director of sport Walter Sabatini, who should meet with Galliani on his beachfront office either tonight or tomorrow.
However, there is a negative sign coming from the Giallorossi camp.
Le Parisien reports that Roma are on the verge of selling defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Olympique Lyonnais.
That would mean more playing time for Romagnoli and eagerness to keep hold of the homegrown talent.
