According to Italian reports, Roma could terminate Douglas Maicon and Ashley Cole contracts by mutual consent.

The two veteran full-backs have fallen down the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico.

They are on the market, but it is difficult to find takers for their wages as well as a transfer fee.

With this in mind, both Il Tempo newspaper and Sport Mediaset claim that Roma are in talks to terminate the two contracts by mutual consent.

This would allow Cole and Maicon to become free agents, clear to negotiate new deals with anyone they choose.

Both their current contracts are set to expire in June 2016 and they earn almost €3m per season.

It’s believed the players are targeting moves to America’s MLS.
