Pogba nets in Juve derby

Paul Pogba scored the only goal, Simone Zaza hit the woodwork and Mario Mandzukic limped off in the Juventus family outing.

This traditional game between the A and B teams at the Villar Perosa training ground concludes pre-season preparations.

Only around 70 minutes were played, as the match was interrupted by a peaceful flood of enthusiastic fans seeking selfies.

The team also walked around the sides of the pitch showing off the Italian Super Cup, won 2-0 over Lazio in Shanghai earlier this month, the Scudetto and Coppa Italia trophies.

Pogba has been awarded the Number 10 jersey and also taken on a new role, playing in Andrea Pirlo’s old position in front of the defence.

Zaza hit the woodwork and Kingsley Coman forced a fine save, but Pogba broke the deadlock with a scorching left-foot strike from distance.

There were worrying scenes as Mandzukic limped off and sat on the bench with ice wrapped around his right knee following a knock.

Juve have already suffered from numerous injury problems this summer, including Claudio Marchisio, Alvaro Morata and Sami Khedira.

Paulo Dybala came on for the second half and impressed with some interesting moves, skimming the woodwork and pulling back for Fernando Llorente to fire at the goalkeeper.
