UEFA confirmed an appeal against racist chanting during Lazio’s game with Bayer Leverkusen was a false alarm.

During Tuesday’s Champions League play-off at the Stadio Olimpico, a warning was read over the tannoy system pointing out further racist abuse from the stands would force the referee to suspend play.

However, Lazio pointed out this was “an error” and UEFA also told Ansa news agency that “the referee’s report made no mention of any problems.”

It’s believed booing towards Wendell when he went down too easily was misinterpreted as racist abuse.
