Mario Balotelli would prefer Sevilla, so Sampdoria are turning their attention towards Dimitar Berbatov.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Liverpool striker Balotelli is not convinced that returning to Serie A would be a wise move after his disappointing year at Anfield.
He is more interested in a switch to La Liga, as he has not yet experienced football in Spain and there is potential interest from Sevilla.
Balo would be reunited with Italy international teammate Ciro Immobile.
Meanwhile, Sampdoria are reportedly turning their focus towards free agent Berbatov, claim La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 34-year-old Bulgaria international is available after his contract with Monaco expired last month.
He had been on the verge of joining Fiorentina in 2012 and the Viola had even bought him a plane ticket to Italy when he changed his mind, going to Fulham instead.
Sampdoria already signed free agent Antonio Cassano, so having another fiery veteran forward would be very risky.
