“We have learned from the defeat to Sampdoria,” said Coach Castori after debuting with a 5-2 thrashing.

“During the week we tried to be more concentrated and focused. I am convinced we will put into practice all that we learned from that negative lesson at Samp.

“Inter are a team of great players, a tank of a side with quality figures. We must do well to limit their spaces, attack them and counter. We mustn’t get pinned back.

“Above all, we must get back to being the team we were last year in Serie B. Against Inter I want to see the old Carpi, the one I know so well.

“That means giving our all, surpassing our limitations and having the never say die attitude. It’ll be a resource for us to play at home in front of so many fans.”

Technically this is not Carpi’s home stadium, as their arena is too small for Serie A regulations, so they are playing at the Stadio Braglia in Modena this season.

Striker Jerry Mbakogu is still out injured.

Carpi squad for Inter: Brkic, Benussi; Wallace, Letizia, Gagliolo, Bubnjic, Spolli, Gabriel Silva; Bianco, Lazzari, Di Gaudio, Pasciuti, Lollo, Martinho, Marrone, Fedele, Iniguez; Matos, Wilczek, Lasagna
