Adriano Galliani praised Mario Balotelli, locked down Philippe Mexes and said Axel Witsel “wants Milan, but it’s difficult.”

The CEO spoke to Mediaset Premium Sport ahead of tonight’s Serie A match against Empoli at San Siro.

Balotelli is on the bench after returning from Liverpool on a one-season loan this week.

“He was given a warm welcome by his teammates. He turned up on time and was even early, so I’m thinking about giving him the keys to Milanello. He can open up for the rest of us,” smiled Galliani.

“Mario is the first to arrive and the last to leave. The Balotelli issue was dreamed up and finalised all in one day. We didn’t plan for this.

“It depends on him now. He is a great player, but it depends on where his mind is. He seems to be matured, aware this is his last chance.”

There are reports the Rossoneri have made a new offer to Zenit for Witsel.

“I do know that Witsel wants Milan, but I don’t want to take the fans for a ride, as I find it difficult for him to arrive.

“There have been negotiations. We’ll see, the transfer window closes on Monday.”

However, Galliani slammed the door on some other rumours around the Rossoneri.

“Mexes is staying 100 per cent. Zlatan Ibrahimovic? That’s a closed book, he will remain at Paris Saint-Germain.

“The transfer market is substantially closed for us. This year we cannot have more than 25 players in the squad, so if someone were to leave then something could happen.”
