The Belgian looks set for another season at the heart of the Giallorossi's midfield as Kevin Strootman's injury saga continues.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, he was open about his team's ambitions to win the Scudetto.

“When you play for Roma and you're emerging from two consecutive second places, you can't aim for anything else.

“We're equipped to win it, but it's not going to be easy.”

Among the most dangerous competitors could be Inter, whose transfer campaign was perhaps the most daring in Italy.

“I still haven't seen them play, but they signed a lot of good players.

“After two years during which they've been doing so-so, I'm certain they'll compete again for the top positions.”

Finally, the 27-year-old discussed his own profile as a player.

“I think I have characteristics that are very different from many other players.

“I have a bit of everything, but above all else I have a fight in me, because fighting is what you go on the pitch to do.

“If you can't run you can't play, and I always try to regain the ball and attack.

“Scoring is, of course, everyone's favourite thing to do, but you can't do a hundred things in one game.

“My task is to balance things out and help my teammates.”
