Inter defender Juan Jesus shrugged off competition for places, reports of an exit and made a Scudetto pledge.

The Brazilian was rumoured to be heading for Napoli or Roma during the last days of the transfer market.

“Competition for places is healthy, even in training so you can learn from each other,” he wrote on a Facebook Q&A.

“I am not remotely irritated by transfer gossip. Papers always invent something, but the market is closed now and we can finally talk about something else.

“I am still here, I have a long contract with Inter and hope to remain for a long time. I am not worried by the arrival of Alex Telles, as he can help the team win.

“There will always be criticism and everyone has their own tastes. If someone doesn’t like me, that is not a problem for me.

“Some people call me arrogant, but that was never the case. I like to joke around and be happy, because life is there to be enjoyed. We must always smile. Sometimes players arrive dressed horribly, so in the locker room we pin their clothes to the ceiling!

“I can play as a full-back or in central defence, so I am ready if the Coach asks me to change. I am inspired by Lucio. When I was young, I’d watch him play for Brazil or Bayern Munich and do extraordinary things. We played together and it was a fantastic experience.”

Juan Jesus does admit he’ll take a while to get accustomed to the many changes at Inter this summer.

“I miss Mateo Kovacic, as he’s my friend and a great professional. We have kept in touch. Hernanes was my roommate in the training camp, but unfortunately he’s gone to Juventus.”

Juan Jesus was asked what he would pledge to do if Inter won the Scudetto.

“If we win, I’ll dye my hair blue!”
