Anderlecht striker Stefano Okaka blasted his former club. “Sampdoria are run by incompetent people.”

The forward was pushed out this summer, turning down several offers before eventually settling on Belgium.

“Why did I want a change of scenery? That can happen when you are aware of the problems in a club run by incompetent people,” Okaka told Sport/Foot Magazine.

“In January I joined Samp from Parma. The director of sport didn’t want me, so I was only signed thanks to the Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“The director of sport always said he’d read some negative things about me on Facebook. On Facebook!

“I worked hard; nobody has given me anything for free. In April I was called in to the President’s office along with another player. They told my teammate he was fantastic and would receive an improved contract.

“They told me that they were very busy, so my wages would be reduced. I worked twice as hard in training and as recompense was called up to the Italy squad.

“President Massimo Ferrero congratulated me, promised I would receive a new contract with… the same terms! It was too much for me.”
