Inter's Piero Ausilio praises new signing Adem Ljajic, whilst discussing Mohamed Salah and Mario Balotelli.

The sporting director mentioned that the Biscione still had to grow in terms of team unity, but he does believe the squad in and of itself has been sufficiently reinforced.

“All of the objectives we set ourselves with the Coach have been met,” he said.

“The individual names aside, I think every department in the team has been reinforced.

“Now it's going to take some time to get all of these players to gel and let the team grow.

“Having 9-10 new names on September 1 doesn't mean that we are fine. It takes training, matches and games before our work pays off.”

Ausilio then went on to discuss Ljajic, who was signed from Roma this summer, along with the controversies surrounding Salah's transfer from Fiorentina.

“We always had a huge appreciation for Ljajic and even when he used to play for Fiorentina he'd cause us a great deal of trouble.

“He's very talented and in Italy he already showed that he's worth a lot.

“We didn't think we could take away such an important striker from a direct opponent, and we're pleased we managed it.

“Salah? Inter were contacted by his agents, as were other clubs. We were told that the player could release himself from Fiorentina.

“We kept that in mind, but we were aiming for [former Manchester City striker Stevan] Jovetic.

“Salah was never a solid option. I never considered the accusations coming from Florence to be important, not least because they didn't come from the people who really worked there.

“I have an excellent relationship with [their sporting director Daniele] Prade and with the whole board at Fiorentina.

“The rest is just talk and gossip that I'm not interested in.”

Finally, Ausilio was asked for a word on Mario Balotelli, who returned from Liverpool to Milan.

“I never thought of bringing him back to Inter. In spite of being fond of Mario, I always thought that his time with Inter was done.”
