Roma President James Pallotta said Football Cares can “create an incredible net of people united to help refugees.”

The initiative was announced last week, setting up an auction site for items and a donation page for all supporters of the sport to come together.

“Football Cares is an initiative we started six days ago,” Pallotta told TG1 news.

“We decided that if we could unite all the fans of football, who could be up to four billion, then we could create an incredible net of people united in the objective of helping the growing refugee crisis.

“The initiative was met with incredible favour not only in Italy, but all over the world. As of yesterday we found over 600 articles in 35 countries talking about our project.”

Clubs who have so far joined in the Football Cares banner are Fiorentina, Bologna, Verona, Empoli, Inter, Torino, Cagliari Sampdoria, Orlando City and LA Galaxy.
