Rudi Garcia hailed Roma’s versatility, as after a defensive approach to Barcelona they’ll go on the attack with Sassuolo.

“The team can play in various different systems without becoming less efficient,” said Garcia in a Press conference.

“Obviously we’d love to play and win every game the way we did against Juventus, but preparing for a Champions League event like Barcelona, it wasn’t easy to play Frosinone.

“The team won and that was the main point. Against Barcelona we played in a different style, but were still efficient, and being a chameleon-like Roma can help us throughout the campaign.

“It is a little tricky keeping focus, as the games before and after the Champions League are always the toughest. I expect a tough match tomorrow, especially as Sassuolo have seven points and very strong strikers.

“The players know we must give our all tomorrow in order to get a victory. Our objective is to get a third consecutive Serie A win.

“We have many players who either arrived late or had problems over the summer, so we are at the moment focusing on being efficient and solid. The growth process will be visible week by week.

“This squad allows me to always have a consistent level, so no matter who comes off the bench, the quality remains.

“It’s not just a switch in terms of tactics, but also mentality, keeping total respect for Sassuolo. We will defend less than we did against Barcelona, but our attitude must obviously be different.”

Juventus Coach Max Allegri said today that Roma and Inter are the Scudetto favourites.

“Everyone has their opinion and mine won’t change. The favourites are Juve, though we all said this season could be more open considering Inter and Milan seem to be back,” replied Garcia.

Miralem Pjanic is available again, returning far quicker than predicted from an injury he sustained on international duty, but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is out for six weeks with a dislocated finger.

“Pjanic returned to training earlier than expected and he has done everything with the team over the last few days, so he can be introduced back now without medical risks,” added the Roma Coach.

“We knew Wojciech was a goalkeeper of great talent and experience. A finger injury is very important for a goalkeeper. It’s not broken, but there has been a dislocation and the worst thing would be to suffer a relapse, so we need to take it slowly.

“One of the things I like the most about Wojciech is that he already understands Italian. Sometimes we slip up and start speaking to him in English, then he asks us to stick to Italian, as he wants to learn. That’s a great attitude.

“We have Morgan De Sanctis to take over and can sleep soundly knowing he is in goal.”
