Max Allegri is pleased about Juventus’ 2-0 win over Genoa, but warns: ‘Our game has to improve’.

The Bianconeri began to rectify their terrible start to the season with a rather lucky victory against the Grifone, and their Coach believes the win is disconnected from their Champions League campaign.

“Our result against Manchester [City, 2-1 for Juve] would have been the same even if we hadn’t won today,” he told Mediaset after the game.

“Today we won a game by being careful, defending with order, but we could have done better when we were playing eleven against ten.

“It’s an important victory, now we’re going to try and creep up towards the top three.

“Today we created some important opportunities but they were wasted because of a bad final pass. Our game has to improve.

“We have ten new players, I can’t expect the team to be attack-minded. Keeping a clean sheet was important, we hadn’t done that since [the 2-0 victory against Lazio in the Supercup final in] Shanghai.”

Striker Alvaro Morata had to walk off the pitch with an injury.

“He felt some pain, we’ll see what’s wrong. We have [Simone] Zaza, [Paulo] Dybala, we need people to be willing to sacrifice themselves and play as a team.

“Morata had something to his abdominal muscle, it’s a bit strange.

“[Mario] Mandzukic had some cramps and his muscles stiffened at the back, fortunately we have a lot of strikers and the others will play.”
