Rudi Garcia does not regret the changes to his squad after the 2-2 draw with Sassuolo: ‘Roma must call on all players’.
The Giallorossi benched top players Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi in today’s game, but the resulting draw did not satisfy the fans.
“Sassuolo didn’t have seven points by accidents, they showed that their counter is superb,” said the Frenchman after the game.
“In the first half we didn’t do what we discussed in the changing rooms, but we did better in the second part of the game.

“We had greater pace and [Mohamed] Salah found the draw and played a good game.
“We lost two points at home that we’ll have to get back when playing away.”
Garcia was asked whether he’d stick with the changes to his squad, for instance keeping out Dzeko and Florenzi until the second half.
“I have a substantial squad and I must call on everyone, because this is going to be a long season.
“Our squad is built to allow us to play every three days. I can’t field the same players all the time.
“We helped Sassuolo play a good game because our first half was poor, but we almost won it in the second half.
“I expected more from the starters, they’re not at 100 per cent yet.
“Salah showed that you can play every four days, but the others did not keep up. I need to work more on some of them.
“The changes to the squad? The winning Coach is never wrong. Everyone makes the right decisions in hindsight, but it’s important to see the performance of those who play in the game.”
