“I would’ve signed Domenico Berardi if I were Juventus,” confessed Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

Juve had options to buy Berardi and his teammate Simone Zaza, but only brought the striker across to Turin this summer.

“I think Domenico’s intentions had an influence too,” Di Francesco told Radio Deejay.

“He is young and wants to play regularly, which in a big club is not always possible. I would’ve signed Berardi if I were Juventus, but I am happy he is still in my team.

“Zaza did convert the first really dangerous scoring opportunity he got, but the results don’t depend on just one factor.

“He had a few difficulties at the start, but I can see he’s different now and will do well at Juventus.”

Sassuolo are surprisingly ahead of Juve, Roma and Milan in the table, sitting pretty in third place and still unbeaten.

“I hope to continue like this, but I am well aware that it takes time and you can’t have everything straight away. It’s important in the modern Serie A to stay tight and hit on the break. Winning back possession with pressing is key.

“Tomorrow we’ve got Chievo, the toughest opponent we could have at this moment, as they are in great shape and compared to last season are scoring many more goals.

“My future? I am happy at Sassuolo and don’t like to talk about other things.”
