Fiorentina have renegotiated Giuseppe Rossi’s contract, reducing his wages but increasing performance bonuses.

The striker missed the whole of last season with the latest in a series of knee injuries, and has played just 26 matches in the last three seasons.

However, the former Manchester United man has scored 17 goals in that time, showing that he is an asset when fit.

“ACF Fiorentina and Giuseppe Rossi announce that they have reached an agreement for the renegotiation of the player’s contract, which expires on 30 June 2017,” a statement on the club’s website announced.

“The new contract includes altered economic terms, with a reduced fixed salary compensated by increased variables tied to appearances and goals.”
