Legia Warsaw Coach Henning Berg admits “Napoli were just too strong for us” after a 2-0 Europa League result.

Dries Mertens nodded in a Jose Callejon cross before Gonzalo Higuain scored a stunning individual effort.

“We played against a strong team in a difficult match,” Berg told reporters.

“The balance of the game changed after the opening goal, as we allowed the advantage to our opponents too easily, but before then we were right in it.

“In the first half we resisted their attacks, thanks also to a goal-line clearance, but we are not accustomed to facing players of this level.

“Our fans created a fantastic atmosphere and it’s a shame we didn’t make it more entertaining for them. I hope they had fun despite everything.

“We played in a different way to resist the strength of a team that is superior to us. Now qualification will be difficult after these two defeats, above all with Midtjylland winning away to Club Brugge.”
