Milan could re-open the transfer saga of the summer by asking Zenit for Belgium international Axel Witsel.

The 26-year-old creative midfielder had been in negotiations for weeks, but ultimately the Rossoneri baulked at his €25m asking price.

Fully aware that they ran out of time on deadline day, CEO Adriano Galliani is laying the groundwork for another push already.
