Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo has been diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and could miss several weeks.

The player suffered an injury while playing for Italy against Azerbaijan on Saturday, and was assessed by Lazio club doctors today.

“Early in the afternoon, the athlete Marco Parolo, accompanied by Professor Castellacci and the Biancocelesti team doctor [Roberto] Bianchini, was subjected to tests at the Paideia clinic, after feeling discomfort in the left thigh in the latter part of the Azerbaijan-Italy match,” a club statement revealed.

“These tests have shown the presence of a grade 1-2 injury in the semimembranosus [one of three hamstring muscles] of the left thigh.”

A grade one strain would mean a recovery time of one to three weeks, while a secondary strain would mean up to eight weeks on the sidelines.
