The Bianconeri played out a goalless draw in the Champions League and are now only one point clear of Manchester City in their group.

“We struggled to find space against a tough side and lacked something in the final third,” Barzagli told Swiss television RSI.

“We got stretched out and ran a few risks. We must improve, because if we can’t create that much then we mustn’t risk at the back either.

“We are still inconsistent. We aren’t aggressive enough and needed to be determined, venomous, playing like a big club, scoring goals and not conceding.

“It’s an odd season. For a while we conceded all the time, now we’re not conceding, but struggling to score.”

Were Juventus unconsciously expecting a victory against the side that was bottom of the group?

“It’s natural that against big clubs there can be a different motivation before the game, but today a victory would’ve put us a step closer to qualification.”
