Claudio Marchisio notes “it’s a consistent issue this season that Juventus struggle to score goals.”

They played their second consecutive 0-0 draw, after Inter in Serie A held by Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

“We had lots of shots tonight without finding the goal. It’s similar to in Serie A, where we create a lot and don’t seem to score many goals,” said the midfielder.

“In defence we’re conceding less than at the start of the season, but in the final third we lack that sharpness on the final ball or the finish. This is what we’re missing compared to last year and it’s something we all have to improve on.

“I don’t think it’s a drop in fitness levels, as we held out very well over 90 minutes here and against Inter. We must improve our finishing, because you only win games by scoring.

“It’s a consistent issue this season that we struggle to score goals. Probably losing the first game of the season, after seeing three champions leave, put extra pressure on the new arrivals.

“They found themselves having to deal with some unexpected defeats after joining a club that used to never lose. Clearly, as results get better, it lifts the performances.”
