Rudi Garcia expects “an exciting and entertaining” top of the table clash between Roma and Fiorentina.

“I am proud that so many fans are travelling to Florence and it’ll be further motivation to do well,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Tomorrow will be a great game and part of an exciting week. Fiorentina are an excellent side who started the campaign very well indeed. It’s a pleasure to play games like this. It'll also be a pleasure to meet Paulo Sousa tomorrow. He has given his team a clear identity.

“I hope it can be as entertaining as Tuesday’s in the Champions League, albeit with fewer goals conceded. The table says that Roma and Fiorentina have started the season strong.”

The Giallorossi are a completely unpredictable side, as in the Champions League midweek they fought back from 2-0 down to lead Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in Germany only to then draw 4-4.

“It was a strange game. As long as we keep scoring goals, that’s an important sign for our football and means we can win matches.

“Obviously we’re not happy when we are leading and get caught up. We need to keep the ball. I should also say that since the start of the season we have often overturned a trailing situation to our favour.

“We are two points from second place in the Champions League group, which means we can qualify. We are second in Serie A.

“Despite conceding a few too many goals, it has been a good start to the season. I continue to work on the concept of defending with individuals.

“When we score, the first striker is Wojciech Szczesny, when we defend Gervinho is the first in line. There are individual errors that occur in attack as well as defence.

“We must realise the type of football we want to play is an attacking style. The reason we conceded the fourth goal in Leverkusen is we had 10 men behind the ball. We must seek greater balance.

“From my first year here we’ve always had one of the strongest defensive records in the League. We knew Antonio Rudiger would require a little time to settle and Leandro Castan needed patience to find his form after a year out.”

Daniele De Rossi was considered to be at risk for this trip due to a muscular problem.

“He’s feeling better and trained today, so it looks as if he’ll be available tomorrow. He picked up a knock, the muscle was strained, but he’s fine now. I have faith he’ll be able to play.

“If Edin Dzeko starts, it’ll be an extra weapon in our armoury. He needs players who can give him service from the flanks, but also who go for goal themselves.”
