Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was “Sinisa Mihajlovic’s choice.”

The shot-stopper becomes the youngest ever to start a Serie A match in today’s meeting with Sassuolo.

“Donnarumma was a choice made by the Coach. He is doing very well in training and on the field. It was Mihajlovic’s choice, there’s little more to add,” Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

“Donnarumma was a choice made by the Coach. He is doing very well in training and on the field. It was Mihajlovic’s choice, there’s little more to add,” Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

“It is extraordinary to see a 16-year-old in goal. I remember Gigi Buffon’s debut in Parma-Milan, he was only five or six months older than our Gianluigi.

“I must thank Bianchessi, our talent scout, who sent me incredible reports about this kid.”

It seems a particularly risky pick in a must-win match for Milan against Domenico Berardi’s Sassuolo.

“I expect us to do well and win, but there’s no point talking beforehand. We hope for a good performance, as we had at Torino for 70-75 minutes.

“If Carlos Bacca had been able to score the second goal, we probably would’ve killed off the game.”

The Curva Sud at San Siro is left empty today in protest at the club results.

“The team must drag the crowd forward, but the fans should also help the team.

“There is no problem with Mihajlovic. All Coaches in the world depend on their results. We have great faith and are certain Milan will recover, because we’re convinced that we have a great squad.

“We chose Mihajlovic and we believe in him. Having said that, we’ve all been in football for many years and know the score.”
